Reason #45 to leave New York: THANKSGIVING IN DALLAS
November 28, 2008Every night should be this sweet
November 27, 2008Just after we turn off the lights and crawl under the covers…
“Goodnight Jada, I love you,” I whisper.
“I love you more,” she says.
“I love you always,” I respond.
Every night should be this sweet.
Traveling on Thanksgiving
November 27, 2008There are many thoughts that can cross your mind when traveling on Thanksgiving. I’m sitting here at a bar in the Chicago O’Hare airport, waiting for my connecting flight to Dallas. With the waves of travelers passing by, I wonder, what’s everyone’s story? Where have they been and are they headed?
I’m feeling nostalgic and pensive about the holidays. If I could replay my life through Thanksgiving memories, it would be a montage of traveling from one point to another between then and now.
Movement. Isn’t that what life’s about?
Perfect moments can be fleeting. But finding the right momentum can propel you in all the right directions. So this year, I give special thanks to all the lovely family, friends and forces for helping me arrive.
Reason#44 to love New York: FRENCH TUESDAYS
November 23, 2008Every day is a performance
November 18, 2008I heard a nice revelation from a young person today:
“Every day is a performance.”
This was an intern speaking at a benefits luncheon about their experience starting out in the corporate world. This wasn’t just any intern – it was one of the alumnis from a special development school for poor, underprivileged youths.
I’m so inspired by this program and have been looking into becoming a volunteer associate. I wish we had opportunities and training like this when I was growing up!
Reason#43 to love New York: VETERAN’S DAY
November 16, 2008I live on the fifth floor of a walk up on the Upper East Side with the kindest neighbors. On one occasion, I lost my keys and everyone was kind to offer their place, bottled water and to help carry my luggage. On another occasion, the Kris Kringle neighbor across the hall gave me a homemade VHS copy of the movie Juno. But there’s one neighbor on the first floor who I’ve always found intriguing with his freedom of expression.
Oops, I just tweeted
November 10, 2008Hi Everybody,
I just tweeted for the first time today. How do you write a clear, concise statement in only 140 characters? My college English professors would have loved Twitter. Let’s have some fun with microblogging. Follow me here: http://twitter.com/candylife and set up your own account today!
